What's the cold idle speed like?
4age big top dropping idle to 500rpm and clunking noise coming from below the car. Clucking goes away with clutch pedal in but idle problem remains.
new clutch bearing?
and would the clutch affect the engines idle or ability to rev?
What's the cold idle speed like?
AE102 - Charlene the Old Faithful, Reborn
JZZ30 - Lexi the Spacecruiser, 1JZGTE>>3SGE. 200rwkw, hunting Skylines and n00bs in SS Commodores
ST162 - Charlie the non-ghey Celica, 3SGE>>4AGE. GOOOOOOOONE
AE82 - Rosie the Bitsa from Hell, 70.8kw atw. Has been converted into garage space and money at last
KE55 - Billie the Beast, sadly missed
With the car stationary and the engine idling...
- Clutch out, throwout bearing not under load, gearbox input turning
- Foot just pushing lightly on clutch pedal, throwout bearing under light load, gearbox input shaft turning
- Clutch in, throwout bearing under heavy load, gearbox input shaft not turning
Clunking noise like a crescent spanner in the clothes drier, that goes away when you push the clutch in, would most likely be something in the gearbox not happy. Does it make the same noise when you are driving ? If the noise goes away when you just lightly touch the clutch pedal, it is most likely the throwout bearing.
Idle speed has no connection to the clutch or gearbox.
