That oil in the catch can would be highly contaminated with fuel deposits from the combustion process! Just drain catch can every service & delete contaminated oil....
Hi
Has anyone installed a Flash Lube catch can in their Toyota Land Cruiser 1VD-FTV engine and plumbed the drain back into the block or oil sump instead of just hanging the line with a tap at the end to drian ?
I would like to know the exact location [on the 1VD-FTV engine] where the drain line / tube [from the Catch Can] can be plumbed using a valve. The valve I have in mind is used in the closed crankcase ventillation systems [CCV] that is used in marine diesel engines that "breath" via an oversized Catch Can basically, which incorporates the valve I mentioned above.
Regards.

Thanks ! that is a good point and I will surely look into it. I have been draining the tube occasionally as the plastic drain tube is not that large in diameter and I don't really want it to fill up therefore defeating the purpose. Taking of what you said, after next oil change, I will start collecting what comes out of the drain tube, once I have enough [say 50 ml] I will take it into the lab where I work and get the oil tested for contamination etc. That way we can be 100% sure what the oil contains etc and whether it is safe to direct back into the sump. Mind you there are other Catch Cans in the market that do provide hardware to plumb the drain line into the sump.
I will let you know and appreciate your input.
Regards
