pps wiring with after market ecu

Searched everywhere and can't find what I'm after, just wondering what happens to the pps wiring when you install an after market ecu does that system stop working or do you just connect the wires how they were and it works as per normal?

yes pps ecu has nothing to do with engine ecu

Excellent, thanks, would you happen to know where the pps ecu references is speed signal from? Does it read off a dash output?
