make sure u get key and key reader from same 1uzvvti
its still a huge job to wire it up due to is200 ecu being up the front
and 1uz vvti will sit under dash
u will need modules to get tacho accurate and speedo too but marty should not take long to figure them out as long as he doesn't ring me heheheeh

or get him to reprogram the is200 key as they both use same type of transponder

A bit OT but have any of you guys run a 1UZ or 3UZ VVTi with the VVTi disconnected? I am currently trying to sort mine (Autronic ECU) and the VVTi is unpowered just at present. The valve train makes the most god aweful racket i'm in fear something is being damaged? I can't believe toyota would have a system like this that went to complete shit if it lost power so i suspect something else is actually amiss (it's a fully rebuilt grunter engine)? But figured i'd check this might be normal, or it could occur and toyota have some failsafe systems that would prevent the car from starting, shut it down, or whatever?

Thoughts? It sounds like a bunch on Smurfs with hammers going at in in both heads....pass head is slightly noisier with maybe 20% more hammers

it may sound like that for a thousand reasons, one being improper servicing. I once had that sort of sound, for example, when I improperly set cam drive gears (ones located in the middle)

Can't see any downsides of driving with the VVTi off apart from power loss on middle to high rpm's

Engine conversion is when you drive a shitbox which costs a whole LEXUS to own

Pretty fresh engine build...forged everything, ported heads etc. it was supposedly a runner with minimal km....having pulled the sump off it was all looking legit....this top end issue was unexpected

use a screw driver to the ear while its running and see if you can hear where the noise is coming from exactly.
