in my projects, I use ATECU (atecu.ru), it's about $300 shipped to me. It's proven to be capable of controlling A650 and all sorts of A340, A430's . Manufacturer claims it's also capable of 6spd control but seems like no one yet tried the feature in real life

There is 9 solonoids in a a761 6 speed auto , lots of fun and games .
I have a semi stalled project using a A761 auto and are planning to use the PCS trans ecu if I can .
I had a running half cut UZS 186 crown and couldn't seem to make it shift gears using just the speed sensors in the trans so guessing it needs the abs speed signals thru the can bus .
When the shifter was in man mode I could change up and down gears tho .
It would be nice to find a engine ecu that had enough ins and outs to control the trans as well , closest I've found so far was the vipec v88 .

cambelt, I ran successfully 4GR-FSE+its native A761 ('2004 Mark X GRX120) in a Mazda RX-8. The trans shifts fine in both manual and auto modes. Needs no additional signals (though Mazda equipment does, but that's another story)

Not saying it can't be done just don't think anybody's done it using aftermarket control . 9 solonoids is getting to upper limit of most electronic controls I looked into .
George that is promising news that the 4gr shifted gears ok , Maybe running a half cut with no load may have caused the lack of gear shifting but I was not about to spend 30 odd hours wiring it up only to find it won't shift or has some other silly problem so I've shelved the idea for the minute .
I've heard of 5 sp auto 3uz combos working ok and think even dumbass has done one before .

1depends on market , chassis and options installed
    2no official name
3 transponder type is texas instruments 4c (simple and straightforward) for gs430 and all cars with 1uz vvti. So GS430 is the only 3UZ car having rather simple security system

the rest use texas instruments crypto 4d

the 4d's used in toyotas are known as 4d-67, but that's not official transponder name

keyless start cars still use a 4d transpnder as a backup

all said applies only to the cars equipped with 3uz from factory

Haven't seen one. Some were probably without keyless start. Try to find one of them. It would use 4d transponder which is somewhat tricky but not as much as a complete keyless system
