Take it for a good ride get it hot and see if that works if not maybe bad fuel
Hi Guys
Need a bit of advice with an idling issue i may/most likely caused/
The car moves about once a week for the usual weekend wash.
I went to move her a few days ago (pre-warm up) and it kicks every time without fail, this time round it started but it was struggling on idle. I went to give it a bit of gas and it choked/struggled and nearly cut off .... i repeated the rev a few times and for the most part it dropped idle and nearly cut off .... once it was slightly warmer (few minutes later) it was better but haven't taken it out.
the lead up to this as follows; It has an after market air filter that isn't enclosed and only thing i can think of was during the last wash i didn't bag the air filter but i didn't directly spray it but sprayed the front end. I took it for a few laps and let it run for a few minutes after.
school boy error but all i can think off?
any help is much appreciated
cheers

There might be a bit of moisture inside the distributor cap.
could be a few things mate, spark plugs could be clogged up, old fuel does that. water wont make an engine run bad permanently, i poured a whole 600ml bottle of water down my carby while it was on WOT, old school way of cleaning the valves and pistons.
water could've got into the dizzy cap and settled on the points.
If i were you id put a new set of points in, new cap, and a set of plugs, and run it on some fresh fuel. and make sure the ignition timing is all good
cheers,
callum
