Default 2t carby help with photos

    Hi Guys,

We are in the midst of getting this old celica up and running smoothly. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me quickly where these airlines are meant to run to, couple hoses missing/or hanging to no where.

Thanks in advance guys. I will be putting together a members ride type of topic later so can follow our progress

The hose from the rocker cover should go underneath the air cleaner base. Not sure about the vacuum hose from the carby base but maybe charcoal cannister. the fitting at top of carby near throat of carby goes to charcoal cannister and is only a fuel bowl vent. the other brass fitting with a nut holding it on is for the automatic choke which would of had a pipe running to the exhaust manifold to heat it up.

ahh that makes sense with the auto choke on the exhaust manifold there is what looks like a broken fitting on that end too. where would of this cannister been sitting? any links to photos give me some more of an idea? The breather hose will just get 1 of those small filters thrown on it. very greatful for the reply!

Charcoal cannisters are normally bolted to radiator support or front of inner guard. They are part of anti pollution setup so you might have trouble registering the car without it.

First pic red hose at bottom of pic attaches to distributor for vacuum advance, second pic tube at carby top plate runs off to the brake booster. Charcoal canister is a 5-6"diameter thing sitting on your LH chassis rail.

    cheers Chuck.

fair enough thanks. but car will be a rally car so no need for registering but good to know. thanks chuck. If no cannister is in place should we block the lines or wont matter?

If it is going to be a rally car, throw that carby in the bin and put a 32/36 DGAV Weber on it. You will need a fuel pressure regulator to drop the fuel pressure to 2.5 Psi for the weber but you will notice a big difference in performance.

No offence Chuck, but the second pic with the tube on the carby top plate would not run off to the brake booster vacuum source, it would probably go to a tube breather fitting on the underside of the air cleaner Housing or has been said maybe the carbon canister, if you ran straight vacuum to it from the brake booster hose the car probably would not idle & not run very well even at higher RPM due to the massive vacuum leak you would have created ..

Dazza, that will req a new manifold also wont it, we are looking to just get it running with this motor until its last breath whenever that may be. not against a new carby tho this 1 is giving us dramas already.

No. Some different holes tapped into the stock manifold or welding to build up a boss, perhaps, for any bigger & easy to find downdraft from an old I6 or V8, 1 or 2 barrels or more.

You should be able to buy an adapter plate to fit a weber on the original manifold. they are normally 50 or 60 bucks new.
