    Default 3SGE MR2 SW20 A/C delete (FWD position)

So I'm pretty fed up with the bearing noise from my A/C compressor (confirmed, spun pulley while belt was off) and don't have the $$ to fix everything right now so I've decided to just ditch it for now and fix the A/C later. My alternator is in the FWD position like Celica/Caldina since my engine came from a Caldina so the same belt is used to spin the alternator.

Initially I thought maybe I could just run a smaller belt but the issue is that without the A/C compressor in the system the idler pulley will be spinning in the opposite of direction which is no problem but the belt will be running on the grooved side to the flat surface of the idler. Is that ok?

I suppose my other option is to re-locate the alt to bottom position but I like it better up top as no oil can possibly leak on to it (unlike old engine) even if the trade off is difficulty to access thermostat...

    Cheers

ok so ac delete is what you want correct?
if so then this is what you need: ac delete from a st205 should work but see what they offer for mr2's

you will also need a different belt, not sure which one as mine was a gen 3 3sgte.
doesn't come with a bearing so you will need to purchase, its a really common size (trust me I work for CBC bearings) just remember to press it in!! no hammers!!!

Yeh its an MR2 but the way it's configured is like the Celica. Not sure what the part you linked was as it didn't come up? Anyways I think the easiest and most "OEM" method would be to find a ribbed idler pulley tensioner to replace the smooth pulley I currently have. This looks good:

I don't have a press but will a bench vice grip or vice clamp do?
