    Default TA22 2T & Thermofan

    Hi Guys,

Firstly I'll start by saying sorry I've been trying to use the search function but just get lost trying to find a suitable post.... we want to swap out the fan for a thermofan. Only real question I have is where do people find the water pump belt pully without the fan part to save on room, or what is the common solution? cheers in advance!

    Ok.

There is not quiet enough room between the pulley and the radiatr to fit a fan.
I put thermo fans on the front of the radiator. To remove the engine fan, undo the four bolts holding the fan to the pulley, remove the plastic fan and then use the bolts to hold the pulley back on.

Other option is to find a short nose water pump and pulley from a US model 2T or 3T.

    Regards

3tc water pumps have a shorter nose, note you will also need the pulley for the water pump.
they come out in Aus t-18 (te72)
this is what i did to my ke20.

i have all of these but i would get a new pump.

make shore that your bolts are not to long and hit the water pump when you put them back in the pulley also.

    cheers, dan

thanks fellas. we've already ordered a new standard waterpump with a long nose so that won't be changing. car will be used for rally so we want maximum airflow all the time putting one on the front might b the way to go for now.

placing a fan in the front of the radiator will decrease the flow rate through the radiator as its blocking some of the air path through the radiator.
sell the water pump to someone with a ta22 and buy a 3tc pump, would be my suggestion.

ive been running mine without a fan since i put the gilmer belt drive on, i drove it today in 30degree weather and it stays under 80 all the time, at the lights it might hit 85-90, but if you get stuck in a maccas drive through for 20mins shell overheat, mine got to around 105 and i turned her off to be safe
