adjusting fuel with the emanage or an safc will change the ignition map as its tricking the ecu. you can get an ignition loom for emanage blue.
Hi all,
I have noticed my 1G in my soarer has been pinging around 3500-4500 rpm, even when running as rich as 10:1 it seems to do it.
I have checked base timing, its at 10 btdc, has new (colder) plugs, dizzy has all new components etc etc
The car has a wideband and on the stock tune it was getting to 9:1 under full boost which general consensus is all the 1G's do that, I have since installed a greddy emanage blue to trim it back to 11.5:1 or close to that. Car seems fine above 5000 rpm at 11.5:1 but coming onto boost during peak torque around 4000rpm I have heard it ping a few times, even when I run it almost as rich as 10.5:1
Would anyone know how aggressive the stock ignition timing is? Its the one thing I haven't/can't adjust, I can adjust the base timing via the dizzy but not via my Greddy emanage.
My tuner said he usually tunes to around 12:1 which has me worried either the car has an issue causing it to ping or the base ignition map is to aggressive.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

How does it change the timing? Because the ecu thinks there less/more air?
I have the ignition loom but you can't wire it up as per the instructions as apparently the 1G uses the same wire for the ignition/rpm signal. If you wire it in it doesn't work correctly, if you adjust the ignition map it just changes the tacho.
I just backed the timing off from 10btdc to abour 3-btdc and it seems alot better.
Just read this so this could have something to do with it
