Default Cooma hillclimb 17 November 2013

A few details about this in this months SDMA newsletter. Anyone planning on entering?
I'm hoping to enter the silvia, should be well suited to an uphill drag race

edit: apparently only open to road rego cars and no type4 I have sent an email to see if I can still inter the silvia.

edit: apparently only open to road rego cars Here we go again !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I am not having a go at people who own them ---- but a a lot of the regoed cars are more highly modified than my type 3. And do not throw the insurance scam at me . If it is a CAMS event , then it has shit loads of insurance !!!!!!!!!!
It is starting to get to the point that we can't run our unregoed cars anywhere . And to mod them and make them legal is getting very expensive. What the hell is the solution to this ? Tyrie I will be interested in what the reply is , as there posted supp regs say nothing of any restrictions . But they are a draft only at this time.

The sup regs say only road ref type 1, 2, 3. From what the sdma newsletter says I think the restrictions are only for the first event...

How does the old saying go ......... Read it and weep !!!!! Ah! Well , if the trend on rego continues then some time in the near future , they may make it compulsory for all speedway cars to be road regoed ....." That actually would be fun to watch !

Phil , Cooma car club has entry , regs etc posted on their site.

    Here you go

Cooma Monaro Historic Automobile Club Inc. www.coomacarclub.com.au
    2 Bolaro Street Cooma NSW
    ABN: 65 302 140 274
    Call for officials
Cooma Monaro Historic Automobile Club Inc. (CMHAC) will be holding an inaugural hillclimb meeting at the
Mt Gladstone Hillclimb venue on 17 November 2013. This is a public road leading to a lookout and restaurant for which approval has been granted for a road closure and hillclimb event.
SDMA has been of great assistance to CMHAC in getting us to this point by providing some training and access to required documentation and process for running a hillclimb. We will also be assisted on the day by Dave King, who will provide timing, and Alan Greenough who will be our Chief Scrutineer.
We are now seeking further assistance from SDMA members for officials to help out on the day. We need some scrutineers and flag marshals, and anyone else who can generally help out. If you can assist, please contact me, Julian Besestri 0418 251 465 or [email protected], or see me at the next SDMA Hillclimb.
    Invitation to compete
All SDMA club members are also invited to compete on the day.
For the first event we are limited to 40 entries and road registered vehicles only. You will find the course very different from Fairbairn, an all uphill climb with many tricky bends one after another, and a hairpin at the finish. I’m sure you will enjoy it.
After this initial event we have DA approval to conduct three or four events per year, outside of the ski season. This should provide the hillclimb community with an interesting option.
Entries will open on 17 October. For information, Draft Entry Form and Supplementary Regulations are available CMHAC website www.coomacarclub.com.au. Official forms will be posted on 17 October.

    I did it years ago,

I vaguely remember it as a good run to the top of the hill, wasn't boring by any means

Is definitely up hill --- power would be good , handling important ------ Oh ! and don't go off ---- some decent drops and last time I was there ( quite a while ago ), not much in the way of armco or barriers. OH ! WHAT A FEELING ?

They should have new armco installed now, and possibly extra water barriers etc for events. Bob will have to take the plates off another car and stick them on to enter. I might have to take the lexus spark plug covers off and run as a nissan v8
