Default 18RC needs it's pollution gear back but how???

    Hey all,

This (I think) is my first post here, I bought an RA28 earlier this year, I've done a few things and am working towards getting it roadworthy so I can start driving it how it is, I'm keeping the 18RC atleast until some time next year but one hurdle is to get the pollution gear back ni. I've done a lot of reading, searching forums, learnt a little but am still lost as to what's missing and how to hook it all up.

All Im looking for is enough to pass a roadworthy.

so a few questions, what's the thingy in the middle of photo 347 with the hose connecting it to itself and the extra port?
In photo 359 is the EGRV (or whatever) what should it hook up to and how? Seems I have no chance of removing it now that my mechanic saw the car already and made mention of it. In photo 441 what is that thingy? In photo530 there's a hose connecting to the rocker cover, there's no one way valve on it, should there be? Also the bolt plugging up the hole next to it, what is supposed to go there? Also I'd rather not get and install an air pump, do I have an option here?

Thanks in advance for any help, it will be repaid with beers one day.

BTW I'll chuck up some happy snaps of her soon, she's black, paint is rubbish and is flaking, the original yellow is starting to show, few dents here and there on bumpers and rear quarter, dash is rubbish (like most), and there's a little rust to take care of, should keep me busy for years.

If I were you I would go find another mechanic to get a roadie. Any pollution control gear on a 70's car is going to be so far from useable or in operating condition that it is probably worse than if you just plugged up all the unneccessary holes. My plan would be to either just ring up a couple of mechanics and get their take on removing all of it or just take everything off and make it look as standard as possible.

I don't think I have seen too many 28's running a full pollution setup so maybe just ensure everything is plumbed back into the crankcase / airfilter and pretend like it was that way when you bought it. Very much doubt too many mechanics are going to be bothered if the rest of the car is clean and presentable.

To fix the EGRV, install extractors. It will disappear.

If you won't be driving the alps, then the air pump won't do anything even if it were installed. So I would leave it off.

The item in 347 is a temperature valve. I think it is for the vacuum advance. I would remove it and install a blanking plug.

NFI about the item in 441. Never seen one before.

The hose in 530 doesn't have a valve, but can't remember where the second hose goes to.

What I would do is remove everything, install extractors and a 32/36 weber or 180 Holley, get it tuned, and go to a mechanic who realises that there hasn't been an 18RC with working pollution gear for 20 years.
