Default Best setup for 1st gen celica

Whats the best suspension/brake/drivetrain setup for a 1976 ra23 celica??
Easy to mount but also being strong and reliable with a decent amount of upgrades available

    Pretty subjective question mate,

have a look through the build threads here at what people are running and think about what components you want, as largely it's personal preference.

If you're talking "best setup" - I would ask "Best for what?"

Are you wanting to track the car?

    Daily drive?

There are a number of fantastic first gen celicas on here, from the fairly stock & restored to heavily modified - and there's always more than one way to skin a cat,

or in this case, build a car.

edit: personally, if I had an RA2x - my dream is 1uz (vvti - keep it NA) + W58, but that's just me!

They have to accrew enough for nose reconstructions as well as feeding his mime family. The dont talk much so they never need much water for their dry mouths.

wow, this can be an endless list.

-beefy sway bars, adjustable pan rod, new bush's all round
    - coil overs, spring rates, shock types
    -camber/ caster kits
    - hoppa stopper brakes to hilux pug type to ra 60/65 type even skyline type
thats just a touching on suspension.
As above states you need to settle on a plan and then budget for what your driving style will be.
Then you will find you build from there.

If you want something modest in cost.

18rg (bolt in to 18r mounts), king lows with Konis all round plus front sway bar.

If you have lots of money, pick an engine you like, W55-58, coilovers IRS rear end (see sheepers thread), blah blah blah.

(TV no 1UZ in anything other than ra28 unless you go mega expensive individually constructed engineering route, so NA limited to MZ from early Camry or 4GR, FI no larger than 2.6 or thereabouts)

Or do what I did. Buy one, spend a bazilliion and find it's a lemon, then buy another one and then cry like a baby when the Toyman sells his 28 just when you've slaughtered your bank account.

Sit yourself down and plan what you want. Blank slate and associated dollars are not a great mix for anyone who is not Clive Palmer.
