Wakefield Park Track Day - Friday 10th of May!!

Newbie questions:
What's the bare minimum spec for the day for car and driver?
From the first post: CAMS or valid driver's licence, helmet, neck/wrist/ankle length clothing
Is that it?
1) Can the car be unregistered (brought on a trailer?) - I have 1 registered and 2 unregistered AW11s :-)
2) What about things like bonnet pins? fire extinguisher? battery triangle sticker? roll cage? harnesses? etc etc (all optional)
3) What about someone who is 16 and on L-plates? (my son) Need cams license? What's the process?

Dneg, not quite there on pelican numbers, only you, me, hocker and vito at this stage. In town has worked pretty well the last couple of times; happy to sort the pelican if we get the numbers up a bit further but it's a $250/night minimum spend for the bunkhouse.

Anyway, is anyone else interested in staying at the pelican?
$40 a night is good and its 150m away from the track so the hungover drive next door is not too bad, staying in town is going to cost more

RO78IN, sorry for the delay responding, been a full weekend and only just back in the office today; yep, still spots there, just updating the list now and waiting on a few payments through but looking like 11 or 12 confirmed at this point and a few more cars trying to be ready. If we hit 15 i can probably rustle up a spare spot or two from the other organisers so it doesn't look like we're going to be full, given it's only next week.

Speaking of which, i'd really appreciate it if we can get any spots and money finalised by the end of the week, as i need to pay for them then so prefer not doing it out of my own money. If you're not going to be able to confirm by then let me know and we'll see what we can arrange.

Bare minimum spec for the car and driver is basically as Dneg said, you need to be licenced (track/race or road), and both you and the car need to be safe and not dropping fluids or losing mechanical components. It's a private practice day, so there's no official timing, it's not racing, and is intended to allow (well maintained) road registered cars a chance to get out there. So yep, you need either a valid CAMS (or AAMA?? can never remember their acronym) licence, a wakefield licence, or a valid drivers licence to get a wakefield licence on the day.

Safety requirements are an approved helmet (look for the sticker on the back), closed shoes and long clothing (ie ankle/wrist/neck length). It is however highly recommended to have an extinguisher mounted safely in the car (where you can reach it) and to have given your car a good check over before going down there to make sure there is nothing leaking, loose, worn or about to break/fall off. We don't like the delays, and you won't like the cost or shame of paying for sawdust on spills.

1) Can car be unregistered, and it won't be the only one on the day; we have the full spectrum from road rego'd, race logbooked and unrego'd 'track specials'; both big and zero budget versions. Bring whichever car will be the most reliable and fun.

2) All of those things are optional, but recommended. Good ideas, and might just save you and/or the car one day. But, a bone-stock road rego'd daily is just as welcome.

3) This one i'm not 100% confident when i say i think you're right about L-plates needing a CAMS L2 or L2S licence; i would suggest contacting Wakefield Park and confirming, as it's their requirements not ours. If you need an L2 or L2S CAMS licence, you'll need to pull your finger out but there is enough time. You first need to be a member of an affiliated car club, then you'll need to ask CAMS to do a rush on the licence because you've got an event soon, which they'll do.

I can give you contact details for MWSCC if you're in a hurry, or check the cams website. The MWSCC guys are who we do this day with, so they'll be down there, but you need to get CAMS sorted prior to the day. I've known them to process same day when needed, if you ring up and are nice about it. But check with Wakefield Park first, they might just accept L's for their licence.

No worries - ok, have updated the list on the first page, we're at 11 confirmed now, with about 6-8 maybes so once we confirm the next 4 or 5 spots i can grab a couple more if we need them. Sorry I've been a bit unresponsive, currently have my hands full with some other shit. Dneg, any chance I can take that as volunteering to organise the accommodation? I think Roundy is good to go, so that will add him and Ness - B24 SW20 and RO78IN maybes? for Friday as well. Confirmed is you, me, Vito and Hocker for both nights. In town we usually stay at the Alpine Heritage with a bunch of the mwscc guys, they've got a few big rooms and cheap small ones. Msg me if you need numbers for either place. I'm happy to pay if you book, or transfer cash to you if you pay. Pelican I pay cash.

Oh I'm right managing track spots, with roundy and b24 we're at 15, but ro78in or anybody else I can still fit a couple more. Pm me or maybe ask here for someone else to pm you bank details. I need spots paid for by the end of the week at the latest, post confirmation you've paid, any more after two more paid and I'll need to confirm before accepting.
