The part number is on the plate next to the model number
This should tell you what it is from
Hi guys,
Not sure what this box is from, was told it was from a JZ that's about all he could tell me ???
Has J bellhousing, is plate on the box tag is 30-40LS
There are some numbers and serial numbers if that helps but that was all I wrote down.
From what I can find, these boxes were on the VVti jz only? No lockdown cable, full electronic.
How can I confirm it was from a turbo/NA?
Thanks.
Mat

part number 35000-3F450 google and Toyot DIY confirm from a JZS161 2JZGTE, perfect! wanted to make sure i didn't have an NA box for the project![]()
changed topic title a little rather than creating a new one..
Are these boxes better/worse than traditional older style from JZX81's etc with kick down cable, just as strong? stronger? better?
What are you using to control the auto?
FYI, I'm pretty sure the VVTi 2JZGTE auto has extra solenoids than even the normal 2JZGTE auto
Wiring diagrams for JZS161 (and it's gbox) are on my wiki.
Cheers

I've wired up a 2jzgt with a 4 speed auto before
We thought it was a five speed but ended up only having four speeds
In my 2j vvti book is does have info for a four speed
So I think the early ones are four speed later ones are five
I guess a pic of the solenoid plug will show us what speed it is
All the auto 2JZ GTE vvti,s that I have seen have a A340 and have 7 solenoid s with a 12 pin plug on the side of the box .
As to why or what the extra solenoid s do I would like to know .
Dave
extra solenoids are the tap up tap down shift solenoids
It should have S1, S2, SLU (Lock up) and two PWM solenoids.i.e. Line pressure and accumulator back pressure.
The last two usually are not earthed in the gearbox and both + and - connections come out at the solenoid connector on the side of the box. That makes 7 wires for 5 solenoids in total.
Pics attached, thanks for the info.
i have no ECU, wiring etc etc.. so i am up for any options, i didn't even know what this box was from untill recently..
cheers,
