Fuel tank swap

I'm doing a 22r to 22re conversion...

Stuck at the fuel tank...

Anyone know if the fuel tank and sender unit could be completely swapped in from a 2.7 efi 97 onwards model to a 89-96 series 2.4 body?

see if the sender and fuel pump from the new one fit in the old hole...you could get lucky if not try mounting the "in tank" pump to the old sender/pickup ( hose clamp ? ) , run the wires out through a little hole and use some devcon or three bond to seal it , there should be a vapour return line , this should work of as a fuel return.

I've looked up the parts numbers and apparently it's pretty much the same tank design, but the senders and whatnot are different, so just swapping the whole tank
