I cant see it providing an ounce of extra power?
Why not run it on blacktop electronics, whats a loom, ECU and MAP sensor worth?
Ok, so I hate the AFM on the silvertop engines. I'm not dropping the cash on an aftermarket ECU, as that money is being saved for my Japanese working holiday.
So, I thought I would look at installing a larger AFM. I have heard that a Gen2 GT4 3SGTE AFM is pretty much a direct replacement, but I can't find any detailed info.
Has anyone done anything like this, and if so, what's the go?
I was almost thinking of getting something from a larger engine (supra or the like) and comparing the silvertop readings on a flow bench etc against the replacement and calibrating it to match, but if someone else has worked it out, I won't bother.
Help?

Dunno, but finding them can be a bit of a pain...
Definitely worthwhile on the 4AGZE's and they had less power than the 20v engines.
What I did was to use the AFM housing from a 2.2 ltr Mazda 626 and take the circuit board from the original GZE AFM and put it in the bigger Mazda housing. This Mazda housing was the same size as a 3SGTE AFM housing. Something to keep in mind was that the GZE and probably the 3SGTE AFM and 20v 4AGE, used a dropping voltage to show higher load levels.
Tuning was done via the Jaycar/Silicon Chip Magazine 'Digital Fuel Adjuster' and "No" you can't just fiddle with the AFM flap spring to get it to work well, the behavior is too non-linear for that. End results were good, but I had also fitted a 55mm TB too, so end results couldn't be only a result of the bigger AFM.

I had a 55mm (3SGTE) throttle body on my MAP 4AGZE and it made a good improvement.
I *may* have access to a busted E-Manage soon that I *might* be able to fix, but failing that, I want to do what I can with the stock ECU to minimise cost. The damn car has cost me waaayyy too much already, so an after market ECU is out of the budget.
Megasquirt?
