whats wrong with the ecu? not running right or just wont run? maybe look in here http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...ment-info.html i think terra in that thread fix's them if ya cant yourself.
hey all
My ecu has died and I cant find another one.
Has anyone successfully re-pinned/changed the plugs on there Jza70/jzx81 harness to run a jzx90/jzz30 ecu?
thanks

pull ecu apart see if capacitors are gone
they are hit n miss when it comes to repairing them
but u need to make sure its the ecu
how do u know its ecu
is it a shop telling u its stuffed?
Thanks for the replies
I pulled the ecu apart earlier today, one of the caps had leaked onto the board. I replaced it but that didnt change anything.
I'm 99% sure its the ecu as it would run fine them if i moved the ecu slightly it would drop 2 cylinders, then if i moved it more it would cut out completely
After looking around more on the net and comparing the jzz30 and jza70 diagrams, I'm fairly sure I should be able to get it to work if i can get a jzz30/jzx90 ecu and plugs
i would search harder for jzx81 ecu
by the time u fuk round soldering 80 wires u will say why the fk didnt i just find another ecu
then u have to hope it runs good after soldering 80 wires and hope u dont get any bad solder joins
try most fo the importers
try yahoo japan
mark at wholesale carparts i believe had a couple of jza70 ecus
might be paying a bit more for them but they probably have some sort of conditional warranty...

If it drops 2 cylinders when you move the ECU i would be making sure all the connector terminals are clean & tight & also could be a broken wire leading up to the plug ( the last one is a bit unlikely but worth a look ) ..
I'll try the wreckers on wednesday, lousy new years...
I was planning on repinning the old harness onto the new plugs or making a jumper harness rather than cutting the plugs off the original one.
Main reason for going to the soarer ecu is because this is the second one I've had go bad on me so its only a matter of time before the replacement craps itself too.
Do you mean Wholesale carparts Australia in brisbane? Automatic ones are terribly difficult to find it seems..
I tried wiggling the plugs, this did not affect the situation, leading me to believe it was the ecu rather than the plugs themselves. I checked the first 10cm of wiring for damage and found nothing
The trick is to replace caps before it fks the circuit board
yeah thats who i meant and sorry forgot the jza70 auto bit

It's just way too hard to find a JZA70 or JZX81 ECU these days.... and Auto makes it even impossible.
And if the ECU is not known working, do not buy it.
You can Re-pin or Re-solder (Easier) so long as you can get yourself a set of JZZ30 ECU Plugs with the wires hanging out.
95% of the Pins are Identical, since it's the same Engine, but the things that you will have trouble with are :
- Fuel Pump Control.... the JZA70 ECU Switches a Relay to change the current going to the fuel pump speed, the JZZ30 ECU by itself cannot do this
- A/C Will not work.
Both these issues can be fixed with modifications to the wiring.

Think id rather repin, for neatness sake.
Fuel pump: wouldnt the soarer ecu just trigger the supra relay and run the pump at full speed all the time?
A/C: why wouldnt the ac work?
The other option ive been thinking about is getting a manual ecu and running the gearbox with a supra stick/mv autos box etc
jzz30/jzx90's use 2 pins on the ecu for fuel pump control. and there is no relay. they use a controller and uses a PWM signal to make the controller do its magic.
in my mx83 1j conversion I used an oem controller with no issues, but you can make a simple one yourself as long as you can solder.
to use a factory FPC? easy as. pm me for details if interested. otherwise wilbo has a schematic to build a fpc that just runs 12v but still cuts the fuel pump with the engine.
