Hopefully this helps, the clutch is true and flush on the pressure plate and flywheel but looks like the pressure plate spring might be worn or out, I cant get it flex with my tools so I can't measure it but it doesn't look perfectly round.

Toss up some photos?
Make sure none of the springs are loose and put a ruler across things lol

Which one of these is the correct slave cylinder piston?
The one on the left came out of the car and the right is a brand new one I purchased from Veals. The larger piston obviously shortens the throw on the fork and the bearing doesn't quite reach the back of the bell housing but I'm not sure if it will have an impact on the performance, if its an intentional modification or if Veals just have the wrong part in their catalogue.
Thanks,
Nick
Clutch face has 1/3 heat & slip, 1/3 with an imprint from the disk and the last section looks normal when it should have the same look all the way around.
Disk looks OK, put it on the shaft & spin to check for runout. Wack/hammer those tabs to tighten up on any loose springs.
Longer piston will bottom out sooner but there should still be plenty of room for clutch wear.
I'm surprised that its gotta spring, however weak.
No idea about bearing & back of the bellhousing means.
Well spotted allencr, took the clutch to a workshop today who quickly found the problem, a lazy plate strap (where the hotspots are). Used a very sophisticated tool, aka a drill press, to depress the diaphragm and it was only lifting a fraction on one side and not lifting at all on the other, showed a fresh pressure plate and 7mm all round, so replaced the lot anyway.
Ha, I never would of picked anything like that from the picture, then again, my eyes are fucked
Give that man a beer lol
Glad you found the problem though
Yeah, was surprised and I had to take a really close look to even notice the difference!
I took the larger slave piston back to Veals and asked if they had another listing, then asked listings for other Toyotas and it was showing the same part; So figured it must have been a modification and installed it anyway. Turns out it makes stuff all difference, the fork has a good 10mm of travel before the bearing reaches the spring anyway! Obviously the part is designed to compensate for the additional travel.
