2TG no spark

I have neglected to drive it for a bit and no spark so, the original coil has gone dead, checked all of the fusible links and motor does crank over but not getting any spark from the dist.

wanted to know since I have an points style ignition on this motor is there a simple factory plug and play upgrade or ?

Hi there,
Toyota did offer an electronic distributor on some of the T series engines which makes a decent upgrade on points! It is all a bolt in proposition and usually comes with the ignition module piggybacked to the coil (replaceable) so wiring in is also simple.

There are also a couple of threads on this forum relating to converting points distributors to electronic also - this one should do the trick: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...izzys-how.html

In the mean time have you verified you have correct points gap or no crap clogging the gap?
Is there 12volts (or whatever the inline resister allows) showing at the coil positive?

thanks on that, as for the spark issue, this is what I have done I have taken off one of the spark plug wire that goes from the coil to the distributor and placed it on the bolts to the strut tower and cranked over the engine and no spark. checked all of the fuses but have not gone into verified the points gap, but the top of the distributor is clean under the cap. just not getting juice to to fire it

Id buy a new coil, ballast resistor (if the coil needs one), new points, condensor, a new rotor button, dizzy cap, new leads and plugs. If ya havnt driven in a while no point in fixing one thing when other things could go wrong, may aswell refresh the whole ignition setup, it wont cost alot, probably under $150?
