I just took off the head on my mx73 to replace some valve stem seals and lash adjusters and after starting it up I noticed the intake camshaft pulley is scratching the backing plate. I rechecked the torque on the pulley bolt and its correct, and from what I can see there doesn't appear to be any warping of the backing plate. Also the camshaft pulleys are facing the correct way, and I don't remember there being a spacer between the camshaft and the pulley any thing else I could of missed?.
Also unrelated but has anyone had problems with new injector service kits? I got some from repco and upper rubber grommet on one of my injectors keeps expanding and contracting and consequently pissing fuel (though takes a few hours to shrink back to its original size) also does this mean that the 'o' ring isnt sealing properly? or is the upper grommet part of the sealing in conjunction with the o-ring
i feel much better now that ive given up hope
In regard to the injector it could mean it has not seated properly or there is a piece of dirt or even a stray bit of rubber caught in it. Also, if the seals are from China expect anything because often they make great claims but they don't know what they are talking about but the Australian buyers seem to take it as said.
In regard to the pulley, check how the cam is held in place. It might be a fork or shim washer on the other end. See if you can put a lever behind the pulley and move it forward (against the friction of the valve springs) then you will see how much end play it has.
