haah same predicament as me, im going to be running a highflow though, imho unless your upping the fuel system and cams a disco potato would be wasted. the highflow will run fine id say.
I'm rebuilding my ST185 and I have a Gen3 3SGTE that will be going in that I had imported, had only done 60k, tested compression all good and have stripped down most of the motor but not taken off the head and everything looks fine.
It came with a CT20B which I wanted to use but its a Ceramic one. I'm probably going to be running 18psi boost so I think the ceramic blade would shit itself by then if I did use it.
I have a CT26 HiFlow which I had on my old motor which has a To4 Wheel and ported housing, used to run almost 22psi on this without any probs. Now I was thinking, should I just use this instead although I do know the CT20B is supposed to be better, I could get the CT20B redone with steel internals, but that might cost abit and that money could buy my other option....which is a Garrett GT2860RS (Disco Potato).

Buy a gt3076 with either the .63 or .82 rear housing,
are you upgrading the ECU? if not just stick with the ct20b, save up till you can afford to do it properly with a 3076 as mentioned or 2860 if you want response and only 300-340awhp
