Lovely!
Here's one for all the ney sayers who tell everyone you can't put a V6 in a GT4.
ST185 powered by a 3VZ-FE
They ended up using a Rav4 box as the diff housing on it is able to clear the back of the block. I'd expect a box out of one of the V6 powered Lexus 4WD's would work as well but I think they are all auto's, still trick it up and that could be just the thing for getting some decent quater mile times out of a GT4.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
Kurt.

Nice to know the RAV box works as this in the Missus' car would be interesting. Rather use a 1MZ though.
I have been suggesting a V6 swap for years, especially to those looking to do the UZ swap, but no takers. Add turbos and you would have a hauler for sure.
Dunno about the RAV box though as it won't take much abuse.
On another note i just picked up all the AWD gear for a UZ (sump, driveshafts, front diff and transfer case). How do you do the evil laugh thing in a post![]()

Hi,
Nice. Crikey, I wonder if that V6 could fit into an AE71!

I was going to put a 1MZ (or 3MZ if one turned up at the right price...) into my KE70... Instead, I managed to put my KE70 into a wall, so that idea went backwards for a little while!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I though all the Lexi ran longitudal rather than transverse engine setups?Originally Posted by Joshstix

Transverse engine and AWD/FWD i think. At least for 1MZ and 3MZ engines anyways.Originally Posted by WDE_BDY

Nah the transfer case comes off just fine....not going on the Tremec though. I have a proj in mind, could be a little ways off but as a clue it'll come in under 1000kg and i'd be gunning for the fastest AWD 1/4 title for sure

Sounds to me like someone wants to outdo A certain 1UZ + GTR driveline TA22 effort...
Due to limited bandwidth I haven't looked at that video, but one of the members of this forum has a 3VZ in a 185 from memory.. Could be the same one?
Nikita the RA23 is almost finished.
I don't think the issue was ever that a V6 would fit, it was more that the GT4 box wouldn't mate upto the V6, which is still true.
I'm curious now to see what the differences are between the Rav4 & GT4 boxes.
Obviously, its all in the transfer case packaging.
And then obviously whether the Rav version could handle more power than the standard 6 anyway.
Anyone know whether the Kluger/Highlander/RX330 ever came in a manual version somewhere?
Toyota did a AWD Avalon ute for a motor show in the past, but I can't remember whether it was auto or manual (most likely auto I bet)
That was my point, the RAV box just won't take the grunt...well any grunt that would make the conversion worthwhile as a real performer. The RAV transfer case and driveshafts are much smaller than the GT4 equiv. Be interesting to see actually what would break one though i guess.

justen.. you scare me!
there's a certain 4wd 1uz ma61 in the making as well that could challenge you. (I think it's getting a birthday present of twin turbos)
