Default Working out issues on a Sunroof

    Hey all,

I am just fixing up a few things on the new Toyota Caldina ST215 and the sunroof isn't working.

It seems like one of the buttons did move the panel slightly but I was worried about opening it anymore if it gets stuck on opening mode. It seems like the close button didn't do anything.

I was going to try clean out the contacts on the switch. Is there a chance that the contacts

Is there anything you could suggest in repairing the sunroof and diagnosing the issue?

    Thanks again

Contacts are your first port of call but invariably the molded plastic ends on the cables break off so while it will open getting it closed and in the correct position is another matter. I have two Surfs with fully functional Sunroofs, Despite the fact that one Surf is no longer functional thanks to some teenagers the sunroofs are not used and have rarely been used during our ownership of said vehicles aside from "Cycle" them to keep things working

Thanks for the info mate. Would you say the cables are particularly expensive from Toyota?

The only thing worrying me would be getting the headliner off without damaging it. I hate removing those Xmas tree clips holding the roof head liner in place

I went out this morning to try again and it seems that the open and close buttons seem to work but it stops straight away and I can hear that the motor is still running under stress (as I can hear the idle of the car lower slightly).

I'm wondering if the actual motor could be damaged/worn.

The previous owner was helpful describing the pattern in which it stopped working, I believe it stopped working in the "completely open" position, but the tilt function was still working ok. After a while the tilt function stopped working too.

I'm super eager to get it all up and running, the worst part is lowering that headliner and resetting the closed/open position.

After speaking with a Sunroof specialist they mentioned that the cables could be misaligned and that the motor could be sensing too much load and cutting out.

I'm tempted to drop the headliner and take a sticky beak tonight to see whats going on. Now to find spare sunroof components for a Caldina doh.
