usually you measure where the hose is put on, not the threaded section
Hi guys,
need a bit of clarification regarding some AN sizes if anyone can help.
first off, I have these fittings, which I wanted to replace
after measuring I looked at a AN size chart
which made me think that the size is AN-12
Is this correct?
Because when I went ahead and ordered some AN-12 fittings, I received
Which to me looks like AN-16.
so I emailed the seller with these pictures, and they have told me "We sent you AN12. The measurement is correct and match the AN12."
Am I retarded? what is the correct way to measure AN fittings?
Cheers,
Merlin

Hi Merlin. AN fittings you measure od of male thread or hose id. As the chart above has listed AN-12 is 1 1/16 inch od thread or 12/16 or 3/4 inch hose id, which if you had a set of verniers will show that size.
You have the basic idea correct. You are not retarded quite a few people get confused with AN sizing.

Tony
So based on this picture, where I measure the OD of the male thread to be 25.4mm / 1 inch
this is AN16 right?
Thanks for all your help guys
Try Aeroquip's WWW or any other real manufacturers, not some re-seller site or the makers of all that colorful wannabe stuff.
Looks like you got sold AN16. I used that chart when doing my turbo/oil cooler lines. I bought all proflow stuff through work tho. Not bad, but not as good as speedflow. The speedflow design is better, but havent had any problems with proflow and after a couple they get easy to put together.

Thanks guys, will definitely be looking into more quality items now.
Screw this aluminium shit, just buy cheap steel JIC fittings and get them crimped.
