Does anyone know if the front and rear engine mounts for a 215 Caldina are swappable from another model (eg Celica or Rav4)?
Or, are there are aftermarket options available?
Having issues with the OEM mounts being way too soft and causing excess engine movement when on-off throttle or parking, especially after the car has been running for a while ( and the heat softens the mounts even more). Grrr..
Have considered polyurethane alternatives but was told they would be too harsh for a daily.

contact terryo on these forums. his business road and track sell uprated (solid rubber) mounts for gt4's/mr2's etc. he may not ness have them in stock for the caldina but could no doubt get some made for you.
i have a set for the engine and rear diff in my gt4, they don't look fancy like the nylon insert options, but they work.
Thanks for those leads.
Apologies for delayed response, spent last month relocating interstate.
@ Wagonist --> Mounts are OEM Toyota, less than 3 years old. I did find them softer than they should be when new, and had a very similar problem with a center bearing replaced with a new part also from Toyota.
I suspect either an inferior grade rubber was used or it was not given proper time to cure before shipping out. The center bearing's rubber was so soft it had to be ployurethaned solid to stop it knocking about during "enthusiastic" acceleration. Had a look at the link you provided, only found a compatible front mount in a 96 Corona, no luck on the rearMight need custom made mounts, the current ones are pretty badly worn by now.
@ Johnathan Yee --> Is it this one? http://www.roadandtrack.net.au/
I'll drop a line to Terryo and see what they can do, as long as the parts work that's all that matters![]()
For my Excel, I had my local suspension shop get the front & rear mounts "filled in" with urethane to basically make them solid.
I was losing too much torque from the engine rocking back & forth & not spinning the axles.
Left the 2 "end" ones as standard because I still wanted some give (especially as the car gets driven hard over rough ground)
UPDATE:
All sorted.
Contacted Terry at Road and Track http://www.roadandtrack.net.au/ a few weeks ago and he ordered a new set of mounts to re-mould them with solid rubber.
Parts were fitted to the car today, even after a short drive the difference is definitely noticeable.
Not bad on vibration transfer ( very, VERY slight at off-throttle) and the engine doesn't wobble about anywhere near like before.
Also more direct response now when letting out the clutch in 1st and accelerating after gear changes.
Will keep an eye on things over the week, also have a long drive coming up this weekend.
I'm sending the old mounts back to Terry as an exchange for the new ones, he will re-mould them and start an exchange program for other Caldina owners![]()

Keep in mind that the Caldina is pretty much a Celica with a wagon body. So a 215 Caldina is mechanically the same as an ST215 Celica, panel and trim differences aside. My suggestion is to use toyodiy, find your part number and then use the part number search to find equivalent models which use the same part for ease of purchase. I'm not sure if I remember the address correctly but www.themountshop.co.nz and they do custom

Which mounts did he do?
And what did use to make them solid?
I hope they're not too harsh.
I had the front & rear mounts made solid on my Excel. The feel is great, but the buzzing through would get annoying on a road car.
