That is your gauge sensor.
Although the brown wire suggests otherwise, the sensor it plugs in to is definitely a guage sensor.
After inspecting my rear spark plugs with the intake off, i found this little connection in the intake manifold. It has 1 wire, a brown one, with a blue connector. To me, it looks like a temprature switch, but why would this need ANOTHER one? Theres already 4 of them that i know of dotted around the engine already...ECT Sensor, CSI Sensor, Fan Switch and a Guage sensor.
What is this one for!

A better pic of the actual sensor and location.
Thanks!

Kurt.

water temp sensor for you dash
yep, water temp, usually independent of any efi sensors too
Hmm i see!..so that makes me wonder then, what the other two connections are on the upper and lower radiator housings. The bottom one is a single wire, and the top one is a 2-wire. Fans i guess then?

Kurt.

What colour is the wire? Most prob from what everyone is saying it's a tempreture wire, but your car was auto, so it could be something to do with the Auto temp senor. The trusty old SA63 had two sensors, one for the temp guage and we are lead to believe the other one is for the auto transmission... It's still there to this day...
Can't afford it?... Don't buy/drive it...

Its a brown wire, with a blue connector. If it was something to do with the ECT ECU, what would it be for?
This is the other one im talking about on the thermostat housing at the bottom of the motor...
So if that little one is for the guage, the top one if for the thermo fans...then what is this one?!!!(something for the ECT ECU? Torque converter lockup?)

the engine ECU also needs to know the coolant temp - ECT ECU's usually get temp sensor data from the engine ECU.
cheers,
Charles.

Yeah, that sensor is on the coolant bypass pipe, along with the CS time switch and BVSV's.Originally Posted by thechuckster
Any idea what this one is, on the thermo housing?

could be AC or climate control. some wont do certain stuff until motor is warmed up of until the coolant is above a certain temp.
Unplug it and see what code the ECU throws![]()
