    Default Nitrous Oxide Injection.

Hey all, I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on nitrous oxide injection systems? I've heard you could use nitrous injection instead of Turbo or Supercharger as it's more controllable, you can use it when you need it. There is no piping all through the engine bay like a Turbo, No lag or no heavy Supercharger hanging off the side of the engine robbing %50 of the power. No dropping cylinder compression either, Just some plumbing, Electrical and a tank in the boot.

Just a curiosity anyways... I don't know enough about nitrous to judge if it's better then a Turbo or Supercharger. I need everyones opinions =) Also, what would you need to do to an engine to prepare if for nitrous?

    Thanks.

you dont really need to decompress engines these days with in reason, just look at all the turbo 1uz's around running stock 10.0:1 comp ratio and loving it.

good for wow factor maybe but i just dont think its very cost effective when you facto i use and filling cost, i had a quick google and people say 6 400m pass's
on a 10lb bottle witch costs over $100 to fill here.

also i dont think its egal in a road car here at all.

Not legal & refilling the bottle gets old fast for a street car.

Yeah it isn't legal, I though just in a fun car you drive on sundays would be good when you pull up next to a commonwhore =P

I didn't know the cost of filling though! Fuck that, I think in the end a turbo is better...

I suppose I just liked the idea of having a regular car until you press a shiny red button labelled GO BABY GO.

You could do that with a turbo and just have the switch hooked up to the high boost button on a boost controller for lulz.

Yeah but wouldn't the car drive like crap with low compression? Or is this if I keep the compression high?

Bugger it, It's all the hard XD Hehe

I heard that here in Vic it was a $10,000 dollar fine if you are caught with a Nitrous oxide system plumbed up whilst driving on the street .. Expensive stuffff

If on low Compression is not your thing go a smaller turbo so it comes on boost earlier and yeah u well get in heaps of shit for running nitros on the road or turbo and super charger at the sane time then you will always be on boost

I'll look into using a small turbo on 10.0:1 then =P That sounds fun!

did you just see gone in 60 seconds for the first time?

i do remember seeing a video some where of some fella's using a garden vacuum thing plugged up to the engines intake blowing air in, then squirting nitrous oxide into the intake of the vacuum and it was actually kind of working.

No I saw it years ago, I don't like the mustang but I love all the other cars... I'd be the only person to hate that mustang XD I only like Mach 1 mustangs because they look like XB Falcons....

Sorry, Off topic. Interesting, I can understand that working. Cheap forced induction =P

like most things it comes down to want you are trying to achieve....

I have a nitrous system on my 1j celica. but i also have turbo. My reasoning? a single turbo 1j celica has plenty of power for driving around the street, but at the drags, more power may be good. rather than go to bigger cams, bigger turbo etc etc nitrous was a cheap option. plus i can dial it in for different amounts and or different gears - ie no gas in first and second, but when i have good traction in 3rd and 4th can hit it then...

I also suggested it for my dads 1uz cressy... nice street car, but want a bit more at the drags. he has a kit, but not fitted..

Would i fit one for my extra "street" power, no way... but it is pretty cost effective for a track boost.

    Cheers
