oh, and since they can coat the inside of pipes, i don't think it is a thermal spray process.. unlkess they have some fancy gun with a min 90deg head.... but....

Ceramic coating is an electrostatic process... very similar to powder coating.
The object being coated is prepped, heated, electrically charged and then sprayed with a HVLP gun... then it is baked again.
This is why you will commonly find spraypainters and powdercoaters that also do ceramic coating.
