I would have thought if you are breaking extension housings it could be a gearbox mounting problem ?? .. Is there to much load on the mount or is the mount too hard ..
Thats my thoughts ..
Hey all
Many have probly heard of llyod smiths 1UZFE corolla
Car is currently putting out 280rwkw cant remember torque figure but its over 600nm
Problem we are having is the R154,
The Extension housing has broken twice now so we are looking for some major upgrade parts to try make the box more reliable,
We hooked up a gearbox cooler setup with front mounted cooler core and pump to run it all, using Joe gibbs oil (mental cooling properties)
Box is already running marlin crawler Shifter forks and all syncro's and bearings are new,
But no one seems to make housings
If anyone has some thoughts and input on this please let us know
Thanks

Something is not right if your breaking the housing, plenty of people put stupid power through these boxes without breaking housings. I would be looking at how its mounted.
yeah just spoke to lloyd, Seems the tailshaft may have been twisted ,
Chasing just a replacement extension housing now
Makes sense, driveshafts out of phase will do big damage
I think Lloyd really needs to look at a T56 if he is keeping the car. The amount of R154's he has broken is approaching silly territory... And he did say that they figured the bellhousing was out of whack, but still.

bellhousing being out of whack was fixed, now it just seems to be the tailshaft
I was just chatting to Ash and he said he can remember replacing "a few" gearboxes that hung of the back of rotaries that saw silly rpm's. He said it would be the tailshaft not be balanced well enough. Lloyd has now raised the rev limited hasn't he?

yeah , the tailshaft did end up exploding so a decent one will replace it, but yeah revving to 8800rpm now
