As far as the fuel filter goes, you've had a conversion to fuel injection done. The original carbie motor would have used the "plastic shit"

There is a really common size filter that will fit about 90% of EFI toyotas. RYCO - Z440R comes to mind. If thats not it, then thats my oil filter... Sorry.
    meh...

do a comp test. if there is a cylinder down then the comp test will show it up.

but you would have to have some seriously low comp to make it stall, i mean it would be misfiring real bad and blowing heaps of blue smoke. it would also have no power.

i doubt that this is the cause of your problem. i would be looking harder at the suggestions here before doing anything else. i sounds like an idle control or vacumn leak problem......not engine internal problem.

first. never take your car to that toyota dealer

second.. i vote air leak. see that taped up bit of pipe halfway between throttle body and afm?? is that special "no air leak" tape? cos it looks bodgy as hell..

why is it taped in the middle?

if you wanna do a quick bodgy check of your quick bodgy tape work, get some WIDE duct tape (like the $2 shop 2" grey plastic tape) and wrap the WHOLE black pipe from throttle body to AFM
start with 2 or 3 turns at the throttle body end making sure there is good contact, and then overlap 1/2 to 2/3rds of the previous wrap. make sure you have good contact everywhere and stretch the tape to get it around the bends with good contact...

    here's a further update..
and this is the most craziest and flukiest fix of a lifetime..
im pretty sure this has fixed it.. will give it a few days tho..
total fluke.. its hard to explain tho..
the previous owner swapped over the pedals for racing pedals.. and it is to my understanding that when he had webbers on, the carby made it idle higher, rev harder.. and he didnt notice the low idling.. he switched em over to EFI before sellin to me, and he thought it was the fact that he didnt have an O2 sensor in the car..
i got that o2 sensor.. no change.. BUT the accelerator pedal was always loose.. held on by flimsy metal and no backing to screw into..
so wen i was at the wreckers i picked up the original pedal off a ta22 (as some of u kno.. its mounted into the floor) and i think that has fixed my problem !
because it comes from the floor.. it angles and therefore stops my cable coming too far forward and rev'ing too low.. with the sports pedal on, it has no limit, and came too far forward..
i hope that makes sense.. its hard to explain.. is it possible that this has fixed all my stallin problems? i dont kno whether to be angry that it was so easy or happy that its done..

jus wanna say thanx to all your suggestions tho.. and im replacing that AFM, wildsupra is sendin me one which i bought.. pipe and all..
