does that one connect up to the heater box? if not just pull it out and put a bolt in its place
So i thought i'd flush the system with water today before a proper flushing compound.
Flushed the radiator itself, hooked it up again and filled it with water, as soon as it got warm water started to sprinkle out of what i can only find defined as a union for the water by-pass hose - 16261B in the below picture.
It was the smaller tube that branches off, but while investigating and taking it apart the whole thing is horrible corroded and the tip broke off within the tube that was connected to it.
Whatever connects to it also seems to have a return line, this also broke off due to corrosion.
What's the best way to replace these parts? They aren't on my spare engine.
Or suggestions of what to do about it are welcome
I can throw some pics i took up if it helps
Cheers

feeling a bit stupid here, heater box?
Heater box = core.
W/O heater insert pic shows that thing with a cap & clamp.
Assuming that it's small hosebarb/nipple is for the bypass or even if it isn't, just put a nipple directly on the thermo housing.
As per my PM, replace 16261B UNION with a simple brass fitting, delete the small line and hosing associated with it.
(I've seen other pumps where the barbed outlet on the water pump housing also has a small tube attached).
what i'm working with
union that i've removed and will replace with a brass fitting
What should i do about the bypass on the pump fitting? While i'd like to have this all running for Saturday i want to do it properly
And these are what the tubing was attached too:
Green was from the pump outlet, yellow was from the union
Hopefully the pics will allow you guys to point out stuff that i don't know the name of
ps: yes i've taken off the air pump for the time being haha
as suggested above get some fittings for the motor water outputs attatch the top one to the yellow with rubber hose and attatch the lower one to the green with rubber hose and should be sorted or find some new ones to replase the corroded

Replaced the union with the barb, flushed the system with radiator flush, filled her with coolant and it seems to be running nicely!
Did ~250km in one day through Mt Nebo and Mt Mee and besides a lack of powaaas it went perfectly.
Cheers to everybody that helped out![]()
