K rigged up like you said Flex.

I put the Stripe end of the diode on pole 85 where the blue/white is and the black end on pole 86. So that should prevent any back EMF i assume.

So i'm probably re-asking, but when it comes time to run an Amp, will simply tapping into the join at the relay off to the amp be ok to power up the amp as well as be safe for the system?

Just tap into the blue wire to the amp and all will be fine. Glad to help!
