That's a steel hard line mate. Seals via an o-ring, so a nice cheap fix for you![]()
Hi All,
So, i've finally got everything back together after the timing belt change on my celsior and decided to fill the water up and see if the P/O did a good job on the water pump or not. And not surprisingly i've got water flowing out of the hose shown in the pics below. I think it is the hose that flows water to the heater maybe? Dunno. It's near the thermostat. Anyway, what i'm wanting to know is what is the easiest method to get at this hose as well as how to fix it? I don't know how it connects and i can't find any better images of it. I've tried looking but i don't know what to really look for!

So uh yeah, ideas? I don't know if it just glues in, screws or what? Any help is always appreciated!
Also, how do you attach pictures in threads now? I can't upload through imageshack as the method now seems different? Never had an issue before!

HI,
thanks for the quick reply! Now, what's the easiest way to get to it? Those pics aren't my engine. Mine is all together and ready to fill fluids. Should i be taking out everything from the front or do i take the inlet manifold off?

did you replace the water pump?.. if its leaking from there that requires the water pump to be removed to replace the water pump, so its timing belt off again unfortunately.. i usually put the new oring on, coat with aviation gasket goo.. and put the pump on, never had an o-ring like that leak EVER using aviation gasket goo, bit of silicon works a treat too
Hi,
i didn't replace the water pump, but the previous owner did. Has anyone got a photo of what this hose setup looks like? I'm just trying to get my head around what how it attaches. From what i can see it is going to be alot easier to take the inlet manifold off (that and i've had enough of taking the front of this engine apart!) but i could be wrong.

It's inlet manifold off I'm afraid....I said a cheap fix, not easygive you the chance to check the water pump for leaks as well.

Hi,
mate, i'm ok with that tbh. As long as i don't have to take the friggin cam belt off again! So how does this pipe/hose fit in there? IE what holds it in place? Or is it just a rigid tube that is mated and sealed by the o-ring?

^^^ This. Fixed rigid pipe and o-ring, that's it. Can be a bitch to pull out too as a mega tight fit......hence need to use lube on install as easy to root the o-ring. No heater for me so I just Devon the housing up and toss the pipe in the bin![]()

Hi,
sweet. I'll attack it tonight. Hopefully pick up the o-ring on the way home. I swear one day i'll get this thing on the road.
Lesson learnt - never buy a toyota that needs work from a nissan driver......

Hi,
k, so got the manifold etc out, hose is out and the culprit has been found! My guess is that it twisted/rolled as it went back in. As tempted as i am to throw the old one in PROPERLY i'll wait to get a new one. Now, while i'm here is there anything else that i should be doing/looking for while i've got all that stuff out?
I have a feeling that it's going to take alot longer than 2 hours to get this sucker back together.....

Ok, so i've replaced the leaking o-ring and seeing as though i have the injectors/fuel rail out is there anything else that i should be keeping an eye out for? It looks like one or two of the injector vibration things are cracked so i'll hunt down a set of them. Also, it seems that there was a leak from the passengers side rail on the top so i'll need to maybe tighten something up there.
But yeah, any ideas/recommendations while it's out? considering how much fun they are to get at.....

Good time to put new wearable parts in the starter motor! They are a common problem, and it's intake-apart again to fix.
