    Default ZRE152 basic question

Do ZRE152 corollas have intermediate shafts. My dealer said there is a knock that has been detected at the 30k service. I haven't heard it myself, I am inclined to not beleive this person as they tried to sell my wife an additional oil filter change for $25 at the same time as my 30k oil filter change.

you mean balance shafts? or something to do with the VVTiL hardware?

Ask them a detailed questions and if no detailed answer is forthcoming, piss them off.

Assuming that this is roughly close, the 2ZRFE has a small chain that runs the oil pump, larger chain to cams, no intermediate shafts.
    See http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/g_G_200...-AEFDKQ_1.html

And if it has variable cam lift as well as cam timing, then there is a shaft that runs inside the head that does funky things to the rockers.
