    Default MX83 from 1JZ-GTE to 2JZ-GTE conversion

Ok, so there is a lot of tech info on 1jz conversions and 2jz conversions from a stock MX83 Cressida... The problem I have is going from 1jz converted Cressida to a 2JZ Cressida.

At the moment I have a jzx90 setup 1j (mechanically rooted) and I am thinking of purchasing a 2jz-gte from I think a jzs147, I have re tht I can use the standard JZX90 box computer and wiring loom on the 2j. Can anybody confirm this?

Also I would like to know which set up is better, stock sequential turbo? Or removing the down pipe actuator and converting it to true twin turbo...

All information is an advantage and will be highly appreciated.

Anything I have not covered that you think will be needed would also be a great help.

    Maty B!

true twin turbo sucks more than sequential - seat of the pants" it will be faster, but slower everywhere else.

I can't imagine being able to use the jzx90 wiring for a 2jz, whilst they are similar, there are also things like tcs in the loom as well as whatever plugs differ, whilst the computer MAY be able to correct for the extra capacity/injector size, its not going to be near what a proper 2j computer will be. Do it properly the first time, saves heartache

And stick with the sequential setup, theres nothing wrong with boost from <1800rpm. The buildup of the turbo (read; lag) with the true setup makes it feel faster as its a bigger increase of boost (going from nothing to everything), where the sequential is on 7-9psi boost from the get go and then the next hit is only a further 7psi up to 14 or so @ ~4k rpm, makes it feel slower, but its faster, just a flat torque curve so its not as 'exciting'

Thanks indecent, nobody has told me to run it true twin yet. Well apart from the Soarer guys lol... My biggest concern is the car has already been re wired for the jzx 90 engine, I don't want to run into any problems with this conversion as I'm pressed for time and money...

My biggest problem tho is the gearbox... Can I run the 1j auto behind it for now? Or will that cause problems with the ecu?

yeah the auto's are different, so unless you get a shifter box thingo to manualize it, you wont be able to run it on the 2j auto ecu
The box will physically fit (using the 1j torque converter, as the 2j one is larger), and there are several guys running around with the kickdown cable boxes behind a 2j but most are running aftermarket ecu's and a manual shifter box

if I were you and just wanted the car running cheaply and easily, I would just get another 1j to go in, go big single or something if/when you have the time and money. 1J's are a dime a dozen these days it seems
