    Default !Help! 4A-GZE Gearbox E58 in ae92 4age

Hello, I have.. I hope not made a horrible mistake in buying an E58 gearbox for my ae92 corolla gti. I have the standard 4AGE engine in it and the gearbox is nearly dead. And as such I went searching and found a reasonably cheap E58 and thought, well it came off a 4AGZE cant be that different (other than ratios etc)... however I think I may have gotten my self in a bit deeper than I had first thought. The clutch is different on the 4AGZE E58 gearbox.. which I had expected but I have no idea if I can use my current flywheel or do i need to get a 4agze one? I also need to know if im going to hit any other snags... sigh.
(the gearbox came out of a ae92 sx seca with the 4agze conversion).

    Thanks, JP

im pretty sure the input shafts are the same, so you can use all of your gti clutch parts. the drive shafts are different tho, you may need 4agze drive shafts. run a search on ge vs gze shafts. if no one else comments.

the gze fly wheel is 225mm and the ge is about 212/215mm. just use your ge clutch setup on the gze box. just check out the drive shafts compatibility.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

input shaft on the E series is bigger, could go searching for a clutch plate with the matching spline but it would be better to get the larger 230mm GZE clutch setup with matching flywheel from a late ae92 or AE101 GZE.

You will also need the GZE shafts to match the box/diff and the rear engine mount. If it came out of an ae92 then it should already have the mechanical speedo drive for your speedo cable.

You can use your current flywheel (and with an NA 4A there's no need to go to the bigger ones), you just need a clutch plate which matches your current flywheel diameter (probably 212mm) and input spline of the new box (which is the same as "Supra" W5* spline). There is something available off the shelf to suit, I think it is from an old Land Cruiser or Hiace.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

Ok, thanks heaps for the info, I will have a look around and stick with it for now, however if anyone is looking for a GZE 150,000km E58 box I have one! =P. Also I have the drive shafts but not sure if the mount for the baring in the middle of the drivers side shaft is the same as the mount my car already has.
One other thought, The E58 has similar ratios to the C52 as far as I know.. correct me if I am wrong but it would only be slightly taller. However as it is stronger I assume it has heavier gears. Would this noticeably impact the performance of my stock 4age.

    Thanks, JP

Also.. to use my current flywheel.. I would just need to find a clutch with the same 21 spline and x shaft diameter? in a.. 212mm size plate..? Sorry I am a bit lacking in gearbox knowledge.

    and another edit!
I think the starter motor mount is in a different place.. does this matter?

http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/cata...age-p-401.html that is the clutch currently in my car.

    [QUOTE=PrettyCoolWagon;1457324]These threads might also help...

    Hey, that's my thread!!!

And here's some additional info from Sachs. I suspect you will use clutch disc 93111 on the E58 - it has a diameter of ±212/213 mm, but the 21 splines of the E-series 'boxes.
