Is it the old wiring loom? Could it be the neutral safety switch or something similar
Hey Guys,
Been working on my mates 1UZ into his hilux, and we had the thing running fine for a couple of days.
Suddenly it wouldnt start.
Checked it out, we have spark, we have fuel from the pump, we have power to the injectors, and we are getting a pulse to them to fire when they are supposed to.
What we dont seem to be getting is fuel into the cylinders to have the thing fire.
On crank, we still have voltage at the injectors, and as mentioned they received a negative pulse from the ecu. Not sure on the voltage, as its too quick a pulse for the multimeter to pick up.
What we dont get on crank, is the injectors clicking. Cant feel them, cant hear them, etc. We can manually pulse them OK while the engine is turning over, and if we do, we get the engine kick as it tries to fire.
Battery has plenty of volts, and doesnt seem to be the cause of the issue.
We connected an external injector up to one of the injector plugs, and cant get that to click either unless its manually.
After some suggestions or ideas please.
Thanks,
Herus

Its the factory loom still.
I wouldnt think the Neutral switch would stop it from starting, more so from turning over.
The factory auto is connected, all seems to be OK from that side of things.

Its getting start fine, checked the wiring at the other end, and everything is ok there as well.
Injectors are getting their signal, but they arent clicking.
More like the injector pulse isnt long enough. There is enough power there, as we can click them manually using the same battery when cranking.
blocked injectors? tried another ecu?
Tried another ECU, same result.
Injectors are clicking fine when applying earth manually, just not on crank.
Have you checked your ECU earths? the slightest bit of extra resistance could be causing your problem
I have redone the earths. Ill check it again.
yea with such a fine pulse on them could be that, also dont 1Us run really high fuel pressure? may have something to do with not enough fuel pressure?
That one I couldnt tell you.
Surely the injectors would click anyway even if there wasnt enough fuel pressure.
Problem solved!
Found the earth at the back of the engine, the one that does the sheilding for the all the sensors, and possibly the ECU, wasnt connected to anything.
When it was running nicely, it must have just been sitting in the right spot, and managed to get enough earth to start nicely.
When the car was moved around, the wires must have moved and werent touching the body anymore.
As soon as we earthed it out, the engine fired.
Thanks for the help Guys, and George, when you read this, it was a post somewhere that I saw that made me think of it.

good to hear you got it fixed mate
Nice Dual cab btw. Got a members ride thread up yet?
Ill get My mate to get one started, and we can fill it in.
