heh yeah Mole, you think your brake fade put you off the track good yesterday, you've got nothing on what Tocchi did at Barbagallo!

Im running PBR "Race" fluid, no idea how good it is but no fade so far. Brakes are awesome, im braking around that marshalls tower too, but i have much less weight - ~1350kg without me but with 20L fuel

if the fluid is working for you, no need to change
i think the extra 450kg was from the boss motor alone haha

brake fade isnt too bad though Phil, as you know there is sand
it's when the tyres decide to call it quits hard under brakes is when it's not so fun haha

haha the outside of the tyre (left side of photo) is actually the normal height of the tyre scarily enough.
the tyre got too much heat into it over the night, and internally delaminated. the raised section (right side of photo) is actually the inside part of tyre.

i was lucky it was my rear right tyre, as i was braking hard into CAT corner (probably at 140kmh at that point) when it let go.
missed the left wall by about 20cm haha.

I've ordered 'Penrite Sin600 Dot 4 Racing Brake Fluid' which Nathan at GSR recommended, $20 per 500ml so not cheap but def not expensive, I would say it'll suit my purpose perfectly (although I got a feeling I needed another 500ml then I ordered). Remsa brake pads to go with it - compared to Bendix Ultimates (which admittedly aren't great) they are rated to a higher temp, are supposed to be quieter and less dusty and last longer. We'll see when they're put on. Currently eyeing some DBA 4000 series rotors as well.

Also: WOW TYRE. Your right its the sand that slows you down so much, as when I went off it was right into a big hunk of sand which slowed me down heaps and prevented any damage

yeah always pays to have a couple bottles when you're doing a brake fluid flush/change just to make sure you get all the old shit out and air bled properly. anything bendix, I can't say i've had any joy with, even with "spirited" street use. Having slotted rotors will really help. I'm currently only running slotted on the front (they do most of the work anyway) and it's been a big improvement, really noticable once you have some temperature in the pads, like on the weekend. I could smell the pads (shitty EBC Green Stuff) burning, but they kept working all thru the day

Yeah I ordered 1L (2x 500ml) but I think I read somewhere that the Golf needs 1.5L :/ that would be right bloody thing. At least its something I can just pop into a store anywhere and buy.

People rate these Remsa pads pretty highly, they're the top end of street / entry-mid level track so they should keep up with Motorkhana no probs. If I got anything more aggressive then it wouldn't make for nice daily duties.

Can you get Miles to drop me a PM or call on 0422551204 and give me his number? AASA haven't been able to reach him to sort-out his AASA license which he didn't receive.

Another vote for QFM pads and GSL rallysport! Both of them have been very good to me.

Sounds like it was quite an eventful day, hopefully there's still some cars useable by the July khana!

Phil: If you need a hand to drop the heavy stuff one evening, I'm around for the coming weeks: 30th->14th (excluding this the weekend of the 7th/8th)

Lightbulb Re: TECCWA Red Mist Autokhana Series 1 2012 - June 24th

Hmmmmmm, I don't want to open a can of worms, but I was curious about some of the times from the last event as, even though they were on average faster than the previous event, the "scored average" for the June results was worse. I suspect this is a glitch in how the averages work between events, which is always the case with averages and calculations.

The comparison below shows that while my averages for the Slalom and Cross-Over courses for June were better, my Top Gear average was worse (due to the 1:10 run). However my average time overall was still better. Yet, the calculated Series time relative to 100secs was worse than April.

My April and June comparison PDF

I think this boils down to the different distribution of times across competitors on the given day. That is, relative to others running on the day, I was slower in June than in April.

I'm considering a recalculation to see what affect performing the Series time average using everyone's average over all events for a given course. Short of weather conditions and the like coming into play, I suspect that would more accurately compare times on a course over different events. Presumably, if there were to be rain, I could perhaps do a wet/dry average as separate calculations. Still nothing's perfect.

Interested to see how that looks?

I noticed the big difference in times, I figured it was because we have been running different layouts and some layouts are faster / slower etc. so the average time doesnt add up properly.

Yeah, the overall time for an event can vary where courses differ, but the last 2 events have run the same courses, so it didn't seem right to me just on a one-on-one comparison.

    * Edit: Actually, that's why the course times are converted relative to a 100sec time so the averages, even with different courses should be comparative to some extent.

I think there were faster people there this time, or fewer slower people, and that affected how the average worked out.

    Sure thing.

Convenient excuse of a reply to ask a question of TECCWA,

But are there any decent toyota wreckers in the greater Perth area? It seems i may be in need of a new gearbox (definatly caused by too much POWA )
