Default Fuel Pump Resistor Gen 3 1GGTE

I'm currently getting the wiring sorted on the TA23.

My mechanic has sussed most of it out from wiring diagrams I've found on toymods (thanks to everyone who posted them up for others to benefit from).

However, he has come across a wire that goes back to something on the ECU that the diagrams are calling a "fuel pump resistor". Searching the forum hasn't yielded anything particularly useful and I suspect it might have another name.

Can anyone tell me what this is?

Is it necessary for the proper running of the engine and what we should be doing with it?

The FPR (Pin 6 Plug R ) wires to a relay and this rely is a SPDT type, when energized the power to the fuel pump is run via a resistor, when de-energized full volts is run to the pump.

not sure why, if its a two speed pumps system or just to run the pump at full volts when cranking (about 10V) , when the car is running it runs via the resistor to still provide 10V?

in any case if you are using an after market fuel pump set-up you don't need to connect FPR up.

What I heard "blah blah blah and so forth and so on... but you don't need to connect it up". I've got a bosch 44 so no need to worry.

I am so very grateful for your help .

If you'd like to continue my electrical education what is "FPR"(of course it is Fuel Pump Resistor) "SPDT"?

Me gots some larnin' to do.

I;d give you more rep but the forum is insisting on the principle of free love (wants me to "spread it around")
