Should be heaps of second hand ones around
Grab the part number off it / a pic

you can bypass them quite easily.
Looking at the base of the connector you should have these colours
Black with blue stripe
Blue with black stripe
Yellow with blue stripe
Black with red stripe
Cut off the connector join blue with black stripe to yellow with blue stripe
Black with blue stripe needs power so from your battery etc join that
Black with red leave on its own and tape up
I would suggest putting a switch of some sort where the power from your battery goes to the black wire otherwise the pump will be constantly running
Ive tried a few randon relays (narva) but havent been able to get them to work on mine. But i think im not getting power from the normal connections.
EDIT: Also check your ecu fuse under the bonnet as mine blew same time as my relay acted up.

I'd advise against bypassing it, it is a safety device.
Really, there are much better options around than bypassing it.
Here are a few:
>Second hand relay
>Repair your existing one
>Use two generic relays to create a 'Circuit Opening Relay'
>Buy a new one
...
...
Or bypass it and have the possibility of dying in a fire in the instance of an accident

I'm in the process of wiring up a tachometric relay to replace my COR, i'll let you know how I go. Cost me $35 from an lpg installer.
Id go with the safer way aswell, pay the extra dollars and save the hassle
Although if you were like me stuck in the city at 11pm just wanting to get home, bypassing was quite a good option at the time![]()

Yeah i think a 2nd hand one might be the go,as toyota wanted $270 for a new bastard.
I was hoping for a/market and yes the bypass was considered for a get by but the fierey death is a worry.
Thank you all
Guy
To be honest with you man ive been running mine without a relay for a few months now i just have a switch inside the car with a fuse......Originally Posted by amon
Aslong as you remember to turn it off you should be fine i have left it on before when not in the car and just resulted in a flat battery lol, but unless you plan on crashing anytime soon a bypass should be fine, although you never know when your gonna crash but yea..

That's just stupid. At least wire in a relay so the pump turns on only when there's ignition.Originally Posted by VasH

Vash mate as the other guys have said having it running off a switch or even just off ignition is a really bad idea. Sure it will work perfectly fine but if you have a smash and a fuel line is severed it will be pumping a shite load of high pressure fuel all over the place, possibly including your hot exhaust.
Best bet is to get a second hand one from the wreckers. Most toyotas around the same age as the engine should work but if you have a part number or even a wiring diagram and a multimeter you should be fine.
You can do it with two separate relays also, you need one that turns on with the key and one that turns on when the AFM is open. You can also you a signal from an oil pressure switch or a tacho signal but a tacho is a little harder to do. The standard relay will use the AFM signal so there should be a wire there for it already.
Hello.
Are you referring to the Circuit Opening Relay, or the Fuel Pump Relay? The former switches the pump on with a signal from the AFM whilst the latter controls pump speed.Originally Posted by amon

Its quite possible i was wiring it wrong i even had a few mates look into it and ive tried various other relays even some outta my aerocabin but it wouldnt work, although i did aquire a 1g one recently that i hooked up yesterday which works....... strange probably my fault but the switch got me by, i didnt have much choice in my situation.

As it turns out it was the circuit opening relay that was the prob( little round one in main fuse box under the bonnet)...the pump relay was not getting power when cranking.Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando
