in response to your question, no you dont have to use an adjustable reg with factory injectors and ecu. But the FPR800's are good units too, very reliable and consistant.
Hello,
Just a quick question really, hoping for a nice simple answer
I have a slightly modified ST185 Celica, shortly it will be getting a Link G4 Xtreme ECU. I have been getting all of the prep work done like getting a new MAP sensor, making an adapter for the manifold air temp sensor, moving the battery to make a new intake pipe (AFM-less) etc.
While moving the battery, I dropped the fuel tank so I could drill through the floor to mount my bracket. While the tank is out, I thought I might was well install a better fuel pump in there as I intend on running bigger injectors down the track. I have bought a Walbro 255L in tank unit.
I have also read these pumps do not like running in low power mode, so I was going to adapt the wiring at the Fuel Pump Relay so that the pump is never run through the resistors, and always receives full power.
My question, is will I need to run an aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator with this pump using the factory injectors and ECU in the mean time? The only reason I want to install it now and not when I do the computer / injectors is because the tank was a bit of a pain to remove and I don't like doing awkward things twice if I can avoid it!
Thanks for any advice you can give me!
Nick
EDIT: Nevermind, I just went and bought a Turbosmart FPR800. Do it once, do it right and all that!

When I was doing some research into fuel pumps for my 3S, came across the following article:
http://wolfkatz.com/Articles/WolfKat...l%20Report.pdf
In summary, they strongly suggest not to run the stock (unmodified) fuel rail with a high flow pump as it can restrict flow considerably and cause a large pressure difference between injectors. Some people said they had run like this for considerable time without problems, but I think its good to at least consider.
Fantastic read, thank you! That makes me change my mind a little that does...
EDIT: So I'm going to be sending my fuel rail in to get rebored by KO Racing. Problem solved hopefully. Thanks for the heads up!
