Brake Booster Rebuild Options

I have one of these ToyoDIY.com brake boosters in my car.


It works OK but it is corroded from exposure to brake fluid.

So I was wondering what my options are in terms of rebuilding.

Is it possible to rebuild something like this myself?
Can I replace it with something aftermarket? As far as I can tell this particular booster didn't come in any other Toyotas so I am not sure if I would be able to find a used spare?
I can get it professionally rebuilt, quoted about $300, can anyone recommend good companies to do this kind of thing?

unsure what prices are over-east, but in Perth there is only one place that rebuilds brake boosters and thus they have a monoply over the prices ... i paid $200 exchange for a "new" booster. rebuilt and painted.

there "should" be a PBR equivalent to your JKC type.

yes, i believe those are the guys that did mine.
i took my booster (removed) to a friends workshop who sent it to that place.

Did they do I good job? I'm considering sending my booster over to them.

ive done an antilag.com night hills run in the crown (ms65) and i didnt crash.... so yes, in my books they did a great job. haha

best to email / call them (dont forget the 08 in front of the number) and get a quote ... as it might work out the same price/ if not cheaper (due to freight there and back) to get it done locally... then again, you do have the "odd" booster.

Seems like no-one knows if they can rebuild the booster because of the availability of parts. So anyone know what the interchangeability of these things. I mean if I get one that mounts in the same fashion, would it work just the same? What do I need to look out for?
