    trdee:
There are PD pumps and PD pumps. The gear system, and liquid properties of an oil pump will have a greater internal leakage and entry reversion than that of a roots blower or helical rotor etc. Increasing pressure will effect the flow more than that of a blower. That said, the increase in line length that your talking about would be a negligable increase in system head loss in my book, and would make 3/5ths of bugger all difference to the overall oil pressure / flow (both observed, and drive power required for the pump). The surface properties of the fluid gallery have a shitload to do with the head loss seen for a given flow, more so than the length of the lines only. The restriction provided by the rough casting (poor surface properties) and tiny oil galleries of the engine will create far greater losses in comaprison to the large smooth lines of the oil cooler plumbing.
If you are really worried about it, just go one size larger in the oil lines. I have no idea on what - sizes are relating to actual measurements, but the gist of it all is: If you double your dia, you x4 your effective area, meaning much less surface area (and friction) to worry about. Small increases in line size means big differences in flow potential.
Hopefully people don't need as many beers as I've had to make some sense of the above. . . . .

eh its all good dude. did some mathematicals before and figured the flow restriction won't be an issue already. i have found some extra lengths of unused aeroquip hose in my parts hoard here so i will try mounting the cooler just in front of the gearbox for the moment. if it doesnt work that way then i will look at water to oil or front mounting etc etc

it's just good to know that it is an option i can consider if need be.

Going by the pic (top pic in post #41), it looked like the pipe going from the oil cooler (black thing) to the water pump was the supply to the water pump.

    Sorry for OT
Yeah I was talking about the photo with the WRXc oil cooler. The one with the Setrab oil cooler, in the top photo, has the water from the cool side of the radiator passing through it. It worked better than the WRX one and the water still ran cool - too cool, at about 65deg.
