That hillclimb at Cooma should be up and running soon, it's not a bad road. It'll be worth the trip.

Didn't think they where that close , haven't heard any thing for a while . Do you know what the time span for there first event is? On a similiar vain , was talking to a couple of Toyota Corolla track guys from WAGGA WAGGA recently and they recon that there will be a 3/4 sized Bathurst race track ( hill included) up and running within two years at Wagga . And the money behind it is from a Mr Fox of trucking fame. It is suppose to be a complete complex when finished , track , hillclimb ,skid pans , driver traning etc etc. Hope its not just a story !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need some good news -- LCCC lost the Khana track to new development , can't run unrego cars at motorkhanas and apparently same rule now applies at Marulean as well .
The Cooma guys were at the last hillclimb of 2011 learning how to scrutineer the vehicles so they must be getting closer to running an event......hopefully.

We could go for a few hour cruise one weekend and have a drive up the Cooma hillclimb course as its a public road. I'll try and remember to check later this week if the road is open all the way to the top and I'll report back.

I emailed the cooma car club a couple of weeks back asking about the hillclimb but they never replied.
The Wagga development will be huge, apparently all their approvals are in place. You can almost kinda see the track layout in this article:

Just drove the Mt Gladstone road in Cooma, proposed road for their hillclimb course. It's about 1km long bottom to top, not very steep, quite open corners in the bottom 2/3 of the road and tightens up and gets a touch steeper in the last 1/3.
Surface will be slippery at speed and if you leave the road there is no run off anywhere at all. No sign of any work yet toward making it suitable to hold an event i.e. no tyre walls etc.
Looks like it should be good fun and it'll take some balls to drive it real quick.

did you get a benchmark time?
I think Council are putting in some money to install armco. I'm not sure that they will be able to put tyre walls up on a public road? They might put those plastic jersey barriers up when events are being run or something along those lines.
