The parts are quite cheap for these now
a fuel pump is about 1500
injectors are 750 each and pipes are about 50 each so it wouldnt be 10k worst case

The wiring side of things can be worked out, just need to know what signals the ecu expects too see.

Dave do you have the OBD plug connected?
Any dtc's come up when it cuts power?

    Hello
I finally scanned mine today and it comes up with the DTC P2006 , Manifold runner valve stuck closed .
I think its not the real problem tho as my runner butterflys move ok ( i also cleaned out the intake before i put the motor in ), and the VSV,s check out ok . The motor only has 40 klm on it too
Im guessing i have a pressure or flow problem somewhere , maybe my exhaust is too free flowing , or my china intercooler is restricting .
Just strange i get 10 lt highway and 16 odd driving like a granny round town . Only difference is on and off the throttle round town .
The cutting power maybe intercooler restricting but intercooler shouldnt worry economy at such light throttle .
Any other toyota dealer mechanics want to chime in ??

Check the egr system, I think that is one of the cooler related codes?? Did you block off the egr??

Clean your MAF with some contact cleaner, have seen a dirty one cause this code and shit fuel economy as a result.

The EGR is functioning and doesn't log any flow codes . Due to the height of this engine I had to take all the top mount and egr bits off . I now run the egr valve near the dipstick and have it plumbed up with 13 mm pipe .
I don't run the egr cooler but left the vsv there so no vsv faults .
Also cleaned the MAF twice to no avail .
I'm too in love with the torque so I must press on trying to sort it .

Sorry, bit of a bum steer from me yesterday. This is the valve on the end of the inlet manifold isn't it???? Has a vacume hose running to it????? I think it is now, it's been bugging me over the weekend. If it is i have never seen one of these fail, however, it isn't impossible. It may have had a slight hit in the swap that has damaged it or anything like that.

Rellim code book logs it as a generic fault code. Variable intake manifold control valve stuck closed - bank 1
possible causes are faulty wiring and connections or faulty valve or faulty pcm (computer)

Yes, it bugged me that much on the way home from where we were camping this weekend i stopped in at work and grabbed the book

Yep thats it , ive never had one faulty before , I know it moves freely , will check it moves when vacume applied .
One would imagine that if it were stuck closed you would have pretty limited power running on just 4 intake runners . I can haul 180 klm out of the truck flat out so i assume they work .
Mick has kindly sent me some tech stuff for me to have a ponder over so will be looking into it further soon

Sounds like i could be some sort of a wiring fault then, i would expect it to be down a little top end power. Hopefully it is simple, these are a great motor and after seeing one of these in a prado towing a gu on a car trailer the other day i laughed a little, stupid zd30 looses again. Prado looked stock except for bullbar and gu had lift, tyres, barwork and wanker "snake racing" stickers.

    Hi all
Its all wired properly 100% as per hilux . Vsv,s and actuator all checked and ok , it's a dual diaphram setup , one for open and the other to keep closed .
My guess is when the ecu see,s a out of spec maf or map signal it try's to limit power by closing the intake runners .
But hence then it logs the runner closed code .
I know they close the throttle butterfly to fully limit the power but I guess the ecu trys to bring things under control by the closing the intake runners first .

Its changing times . Soon we will be doing engine transplants with diesels .
There were some Lads in Thailand that extracted 650 nm for a 1KD with twin garrets on it .
I think im going to try the HKS Fcon iD , is made for common rail deisels and the specs seem far superior to our common power chip type upgrades we have here .
May help with my power cutting problem

Yeah the 1HDTE is a piece of cake to wire compared with a 1KD , you can block EGR and play with them a bit too , Awsome motor just too big to work on .

Yer I've had to program afew keys for the 1hdtes when the shops don't get the complete
    Immobiliser setup with ecu
