    Default 5R bellhousing bolt pattern

the 5R unlike the R,2R,3R and 12R has a fully removable bellhousing and it is the blot pattern on the engine block i would like to know if any thing else has the same.

I checked a a 4a(No good) and an 18r the 18r is close and could be made to fit by moving some of the holes the 2 side holes are very close but the top 2 and starter need the be moved. If the removable 5r bell housing has the same pattern as a 12r you could find a rt81 corona with a w40 gearbox and use that bellhousing bolted to a w50 to get a 5 speed to fit.

personally i am not interested in ditching the 5R or gearbox, i am curious to find out if another engine had the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
the gearbox dellow, castlemaine make adapter rings to fit holden, ford six and holden, ford, chevy V8's for the coaster, delta and dyna and to retain the factory gearbox in a toyota stout due to hand brake issues, it would be nice to know if another toyota engine could bolt up.
my 1962 toyopet stout chassis had been hacked beyond repair to fit a 186 holden in and i have heard of a few that have had the 253 fitted, personally i do not see the point when i have a 5R out of a dyna that has done over 900,000k untouched. the 5R was built for LPG use and i would rather supercharge one myself, it would be nice to find out though if something else had that pattern

    Hey there,

Interesting post- I have never seen the removable 5r bellhousing - good to see one.

This post from awhile back has some information on this:

If anyone has a spare 5r removable bellhousing I would be very interested in purchasing one.
