Default Why no 02 sensor 1995 FZJ80 landcruiser?

Hi all, just a question.. Does anyone know why for the 1995 model FZJ80 landcruiser Toyota didn't run an 02 sensor? The previous model I owned (1992) had one.. Google doesn't tell me much apart from some other references to later model landcruisers not having 02 sensors.

Seems odd to me, no closed loop.. The older model ran a flap style AFM, the 1995 changed to a MAF.. That is the only engine management difference I can see.

    Cheers

What you think is the O2 sensor in the 92 model is a temp sensor for the cat (V6 4runner is the same) Being deemed a commercial vehicle the O2s were not required and Hilux upto about '05 didn't have them either. Instead they have a little reostat as either part of or next to the airflow meter allowing the mixture to be adjusted to spec during service. This said on two recent conversions from 3RZ to 1UZ on Hilux one being a jap assembled model and the other thai build (both aus new) the Jap build had a single 4 wire O2 whereas the thai build did not (which struck me as a bit odd being the later model) but after this to comply with euro4 emissions you'll find that there are O2s before and after the cat

i found my old workshop manual for the 80 series
and for the 1996 model the o2 sensor wires have an asterix next to them and that says its for europe models
dont know if theres anything for earlier models
your talking bout the 1fz motor in both vehicles
ealry 1fz had a dizzy and 6 leads
newer 1fzs had 3 wasted spark setups
so might be something to do with wasted spark and dizzy spark not sure
