OOOhhhhh....that'd wanna be some purtey parts. If it's the actual clutch material which has disintergrated, take it to your local brake and clutch shop, they should be able to bond some shiny new material in there for you. Or if it's the bearing, press it off and take it to CBC to get a new one

Yeah, buying a 2nd hand charger just in case... it's an AFM one though, but beggars can't be choosers .

Will have to work out a MAP clutch setup for it... I assume setting the "air gap" is same as per AW11 BGB?

cheapest option is to replace with another sc12. all sc12 snouts are the same outer diameter and yes the clutch setups are interchangeable. FYI: the sc12 and sc14 snouts can be swapped between the two chargers and you can run any sc12 (larger or smaller) magnetic clutch on the sc14 to decrease/increase the boost level

there is no "material" on the clutch it is not a conventional automotive clutch like in your gearbox , it is a metal to metal magnetic reaction . the metal can go either way , wear out over time or get hot and fuse together ive had both happen to me.

either replace with another sc12 or fit an sc14.

the sc14 on my own AFM gze makes 0.9 bar without fail every time. im using std sc14 pulley and std gze crank pulley.

I wrote this guide a fair time ago now, it seemed to circulate trough the old toymods and filtered out to USA etc but as forums have changed it has since gone out of sight. read here : http://www.members.westnet.com.au/adsport/sc14fit

    hey People!

Since i originally posted this thread, everyone has been a hughe help to me,, THANKS LADS!

But now i have pulled off my Sc-12 to find out that the main bearing which sits in the clutch ( the the pulley side) is stuffed....

does anyone know if this sealed bearing unit can be pressed out and replaced?

Does anyone happen to know the part number for this bearing?

Does what I am saying make sense?

    Cheers,

    Ry.

Yep, you can replace it. It's staked in, but my 6t press made short work of it..

Just take it to a bearing place, they should be able to source a replacement - I think it was about $30 or so.

    thanks man..

yeah i thought that it was pressed in... 6t you say?? giddy up.

Do you know .. if have cooked the outer magnet casing.. like charred it.. would it still work do you think...??

also i have said this before...

but is everyone in agreeance that its cool for me to just weld up the clutch and have the sc running all the time??? will this cause me any long term issues???

other than going through LOTS of petrol... which doesnt bother me.. its only a track car anyway...

I tried a fixed clutch and my supercharger started making grinding noises very quickly. They are fairly simple things, they seem to keep working after all sorts of bad things happening to them.

    6t press - $100 at super cheap...
