The standard of driving in the event is pretty good and everyone gives everyone enough room and limits the overtaking to the straights.......not too many desperate dives up the inside and cutting in under brakes......like Adam said......just watch your mirrors and give clear signals as to which side you want people to pass you on......once you have a half dozen laps under your belt and have got into a comfortable rhythm you will be fine....we all have to start somewhere

Cheers for the advice guy's. I was hoping I would be alright.

Does everyone wear race suits and the rest of the gear? I've got a guy that can get me a cheap Revolution racegear but i'm not sure whether or not it's worth buying one now. I'm planning on getting involved in some sprints and hillclimbs as well.

Probably a 60/40 split of people who do it in race gear and those that just do the jeans and woollen /cotton t-shirt option....if you are gonna get enough usage out of the gear then buy it but if you are just doing it a couple of times a year then maybe reconsider.......pretty much all club level stuff allows for the head to toe non flammable regular clothes so you shouldn't run in to too many issues.......if you want to buy some gear a pair of race boots are a cheap option......gives you better pedal feel and easier for heel and toe if you are in to that stuff

Cheers for all the help Rabbit, I was hoping most people didn't wear race suits.

To be honest i'd feel like a bit of a dick wearing a racesuit driving in the car i'm running...

I've just ordered a pair of boots, seat and harness so I should be right to go!!

Doesn't suit standing on the pitwall watching does it Ian?

It definitely doesnt cut it. Not when its gale force winds, the rain is coming in side ways and it feels like about 4 degrees... but pit wall was an oasis of warmth in comparison to the roof of the garages where the timing was being done!

....as much as I love running around Winton I would rather have a sixth driver and an extra fiddy in my back pocket .....hope someone can put their hand up in the next week or so......only a couple of months to go now......i've tried all my options and none want to play .
